Hydrogen Valleys are used for hydrogen processing, starting from its production to the ultimate consumption. The call for proposals was launched by <\/span>Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking<\/span><\/a> under the <\/span>Horizon Europe<\/span><\/a> framework. To this day, it is the <\/span>biggest success of Slovak scientists<\/b> who have applied for a grant from the Clean hydrogen Joint Undertaking. The project is called <\/span>EastGate H2V<\/b> and is set to begin in <\/span>April 2025<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span>\r\n

Phase 1 of the project<\/b><\/h4>\r\nBy mid-2027, a <\/span>2 MW electrolyzer<\/b> is set to be launched in Ko\u0161ice, producing <\/span>170 tons<\/b> of green hydrogen annually. This output is expected to cover the yearly consumption of <\/span>10 hydrogen buses<\/b> in the region and one <\/span>hydrogen-powered transport drone<\/b>, accompanied by hydrogen refueling stations.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span>\r\n

Phase 2 of the project<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\r\nThe second phase involves building another 2 MW electrolyzer and increasing annual hydrogen production to over <\/span>500 tons<\/b>. The plan includes expanding the regional fleet of hydrogen buses, introducing a hydrogen-powered waste collection vehicle, and deploying three additional transport drones. Feasibility studies will be done throughout the project in order to re-built already existing natural gas pipelines for hydrogen transport, supporting the transition to a hydrogen-based energy system.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\nThe project aims to create a sustainable ecosystem that encompasses hydrogen production, distribution, and diversified end-use applications. EastGate H2V integrates hydrogen solutions across all modes of transport. By leveraging hydrogen\u2019s potential in bus, maritime, and air transport, the project not only supports<\/span> decarbonisation <\/b>and<\/span> CO\u2082 emissions reduction<\/b>, but also fosters <\/span>job creation,<\/b> research, energy development,<\/b> and overall <\/span>sustainable growth<\/b> in the region.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n\u00a0<\/span>\r\n
