The supported projects aim to provide researchers and innovators with access to higher-quality technologies, services and tools while also strengthening the European research infrastructure system. The projects cover areas ranging from health research and climate resilience to agriculture, transport, manufacturing and digital technologies.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The call was divided into four main areas:<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rea.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-grants\/horizon-europe-research-infrastructures\/developing-consolidating-and-optimising-european-research-infrastructures-landscape-maintaining-0_en\"><b>INFRADEV<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> supported 30 projects with a budget of \u20ac109 million,<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rea.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-grants\/horizon-europe-research-infrastructures\/enabling-operational-open-and-fair-eosc-ecosystem-infraeosc_en\"><b>INFRAEOSC<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> includes 13 projects with a budget of \u20ac85 million,<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rea.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-grants\/horizon-europe-research-infrastructures\/ris-services-support-health-research-accelerate-green-transition-and-digital-transformation-and_en\"><b>INFRASERV<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> includes 12 projects with \u20ac154 million,<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rea.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-grants\/horizon-europe-research-infrastructures\/next-generation-scientific-instrumentation-tools-and-methods-and-advanced-digital-solutions_en\"><b>INFRATECH<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> includes 18 projects with a budget of \u20ac63 million.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In total, 73 projects were supported out of 159 submitted proposals.<\/span>\r\n<h5><b>Focus on open data, artificial intelligence and sustainability<\/b><\/h5>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">A significant proportion of the supported projects responds to the need to modernise European research infrastructure and strengthen its links with digital technologies. Projects under<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rea.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-grants\/horizon-europe-research-infrastructures\/enabling-operational-open-and-fair-eosc-ecosystem-infraeosc_en\"> <b>INFRAEOSC<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, for example, will focus on <\/span><b>the<\/b> <b>European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">readiness for artificial intelligence, the management of research data and their findability, accessibility, interoperability and reusability.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Another priority is reducing the environmental footprint of research infrastructures. Projects under<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/rea.ec.europa.eu\/funding-and-grants\/horizon-europe-research-infrastructures\/next-generation-scientific-instrumentation-tools-and-methods-and-advanced-digital-solutions_en\"> <b>INFRATECH<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> will, among other things, use artificial intelligence, digital twins and advanced simulation tools in areas such as climate modelling, healthcare, transport, agriculture and manufacturing.<\/span>\r\n<h5><b>Slovak participation in new projects<\/b><\/h5>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Several supported projects also involve Slovak research organisations. These include projects focusing on artificial intelligence and EOSC, the sustainability of digital research infrastructures, biomedical research and the modernisation of accelerator technologies.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>The Institute of Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is involved in four projects:<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101292847\"><b>ENSURE \u2013 ENvironmentally SUstainable digital services and practices for REsearch infrastructures<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> focuses on reducing the environmental footprint of digital research infrastructures. The project uses environmental indicators, monitoring tools, digital twins of data centres and generative artificial intelligence methods. The project also includes the implementation of the \u201cMeasure, Model, Monitor, Moderate\u201d cycle, which aims to support the systematic measurement and reduction of environmental impacts.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101292610\"><b>FLUID-AI \u2013 FAIR Liquidity Unifying Interoperable Data and AI<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">focuses on connecting research data, artificial intelligence models and digital solutions within EOSC. The project develops the concept of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Data and Models Liquidity<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and aims to create tools supporting the interoperability and reusability of data and models, as well as the development of skills needed to use AI in research. In addition to the Institute of Informatics of the SAS, <\/span><b>Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is also involved in the project.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101293266\"><b>GenAI4Earth \u2013 Generative Artificial Intelligence for Earth System<\/b><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">uses trustworthy generative artificial intelligence to support research on the Earth, climate, the environment and interactions between ecosystems and human society. The project works with data from satellite and ground-based observations, models, experiments and text-based sources and plans pilot applications, for example in urban resilience, agro-environmental monitoring and seismology.<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101292597\"><b>EOSC-ARENA \u2013 AI Research Enhancement through Networked Agents<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> creates an environment for generative and agentic artificial intelligence integrated into EOSC. Its aim is to support researchers throughout the entire research cycle, from searching the scientific literature and formulating hypotheses to analysis, publication of results and recording data provenance. In addition to <\/span><b>the Institute of Informatics of Slovak Academy of Sciences<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, Slovak participation is also ensured by <\/span><b>Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.<\/b><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Slovak partners are also involved in other areas of research infrastructures. <\/span><b>The Institute of Electrical Engineering of the SAS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a partner in the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101290927\"> <b>EPITA \u2013 Enabling Partnerships for Innovation &amp; Accelerator Technology Advancement<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> project, which will support the development of new technologies for European particle accelerators. The project envisages the creation of 22 prototypes in the areas of accelerator systems, magnets, particle beams, and advanced technologies and materials.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<b>The Institute of Chemistry of the SAS<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is part of the<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101292674\"> <b>MIRRI-FIRM \u2013 Making MIRRI FAIR for Globally Impactful Research<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> project. The project builds on the MIRRI-ERIC infrastructure and will focus on improving the accessibility, quality and sustainability of microbial resources and related data. An important component will be aligning them with the FAIR principles <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">(Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, developing a catalogue of microbial resources and strengthening links with EOSC.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Slovak representation is also present in<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cordis.europa.eu\/project\/id\/101292598\"> <b>ECRIN 2030 \u2013 European Clinical Research Infrastructure Network 2030<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, which involves <\/span><b>Pavol Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University in Ko\u0161ice<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The project focuses on developing infrastructure for clinical research in connection with the European Health Data Space, new forms of clinical trials and expanding links between European capacities in the field of clinical research. The project is planned to run from June 2026 to May 2029.<\/span>\r\n<h5><b>Strengthening the European Research Area<\/b><\/h5>\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The new projects thus link the development of research infrastructures with the European Union\u2019s priorities in the areas of open science, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, the green transition and health research.
