As a first immediate and central means of implementing this strategy, the European Commission is presenting a legislative proposal for a European <strong>Defence Industrial Programme<\/strong> (EDIP) <strong>and a framework of measures to ensure the timely availability and supply of defence industry products.<\/strong> Between 2025 and 2027, the EDIP will mobilise \u20ac1.5 billion from the EU budget, including the possibility to use windfall profits from frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine.\n\n<img class=\"size-full wp-image-51227 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/slord.sk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/EDIP-factsheet.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"788\" height=\"741\">\n\nThe strategy identifies the challenges currently facing the European Defence Technological and Industrial Base (EDTIB), but also the opportunity to exploit its full potential and sets the direction for the next decade. To support Member States in achieving these objectives, the European Defence Industrial Strategy is a set of measures aimed at:\n<ul>\n \t<li>support for more e<strong>ffective articulation of Member States<\/strong>' collective defence requirements;<\/li>\n \t<li>ensuring the <strong>availability of all defence products<\/strong>;<\/li>\n \t<li>ensuring the availability of all defence ensuring that national and EU budgets support the necessary means to <strong>adapt the European defence industry to the new security context;products<\/strong>;<\/li>\n \t<li>mainstreaming a <strong>culture of defence preparedness into all policies<\/strong>;<\/li>\n \t<li>developing <strong>closer relations with Ukraine<\/strong> through <strong>its participation in Union initiatives to promote the defence industry<\/strong> and to stimulate cooperation between the EU and Ukrainian defence industries;<\/li>\n \t<li>cooperation with NATO partners, European strategic and like-minded international partners.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\u00a0\n\nThe strategy sets out indicators aimed at measuring Member States' progress on industrial preparedness.
