KISS\u2019s primary objective is to support local initiatives aimed at enhancing the research and innovation environment. It is a framework based on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/research-and-innovation.ec.europa.eu\/system\/files\/2023-07\/ec_rtd_eis-2023-methodology-report.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">European Innovation Scoreboard<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> (EIS) and uses the same indicators to map the situations in the regions across Slovakia. The version contains data for the years 2021 and 2022. In alignment with the EIS, KISS monitors developments across 12 key areas:\u00a0<\/span>\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Human resources,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Attractive research system,<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u00a0Digitalisation,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Finance and support,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Firm investments,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Use of information technologies,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Innovators,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Linkages,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Intellectual assets,<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Employment impacts,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Sales impacts,\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n \t<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Environmental sustainability.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">As Slovakia's most inventive region, <\/span><b>Bratislava region<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> manages to maintain a significant advantage over other regions, which is a pattern typical for capital cities across Europe. It ranks first in 16 out of 24 indicators, <\/span><b>surpassing the national average in almost every category<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. However, according to the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/assets\/rtd\/ris\/2023\/ec_rtd_ris-regional-profiles-slovakia.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Regional Innovation Scoreboard 2023<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the Bratislava region remains below the EU average.\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The <\/span><b>Ko\u0161ice region<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is the second most strong in research and innovation. It performs above the average in 10 indicators with notable strengths in ICT employment, Intellectual Assets and Human resources. On the other hand, it falls short in the Emissions area (industrial air pollution).\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With performance above average in just 3 areas, the <\/span><b>Pre\u0161ov region<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> comes in last on the list.
