In the period 2021 to 2027, it builds seamlessly on the 8. framework programme <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.slord.sk\/horizont-2020\/\">Horizon 2020<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>(2014 &#8211; 2020).<\/p>\n<p>Horizon Europe has a budget of <strong>\u20ac95.5 billion for the full seven-year period. <\/strong>The budget also includes \u20ac5.4 billion from the<strong> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/info\/strategy\/recovery-plan-europe_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Renewal Plan acts as a &#8216;European Innovation Council&#8217;. one-stop-shop for all innovators<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/inovativna-europa\/heu-europske-inovacne-ekosystemy-eie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><br \/>\n  <strong>European Innovation Ecosystems (EIE)<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/a>: increase the connectivity, inclusiveness and efficiency of innovation ecosystems by supporting the scaling of businesses and innovation<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/inovativna-europa\/heu-europsky-inovacny-a-technologicky-institut-eit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><br \/>\n  <strong>European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT)<\/strong><br \/>\n<\/a><strong>:<\/strong> supports the development of dynamic European partnerships between leading universities, research laboratories At the heart of the work of the missions is addressing the most pressing challenges in the 5 mission areas facing both European society and the world today.<\/p>\n<p>For Horizon Europe, 5 mission areas have been identified within which specific activities and projects will be defined in the coming period:<\/p>\n<ol type=\"1\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/heu-globalne-vyzvy\/heu-misie\/heu-misia-rakovina\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Cancer<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/heu-globalne-vyzvy\/heu-misie\/heu-misia-zdrave-potraviny-a-poda\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Soil health and food (Soil Deal for Europe)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/heu-globalne-vyzvy\/heu-misie\/heu-misia-klimaticky-neutralne-a-inteligentne-mesta\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Climate neutral and smart cities<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/heu-globalne-vyzvy\/heu-misie\/heu-misia-zdrave-oceany-moria-pobrezne-a-vnutrozemske-vody\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters<\/a>,<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/eraportal.sk\/horizont-europa\/heu-globalne-vyzvy\/heu-misie\/heu-misia-adaptacia-na-zmenu-klimy-vratane-transformacie-spolocnosti\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Adaptation to climate change, including societal transformation<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Each of the 5 identified mission areas includes the so-called. Mission Board, a mission board composed of 15 experts, including its chairman. Experts provide expertise in different fields and their task is to draw up a specific mission concept. At the same time, the so-called. Mission Assemblies, consisting of 22-30 members, which act as advisory bodies to the Mission Boards. The role of the Mission Assemblies is to provide expert advice and thus contribute to the successful achievement of mission objectives.<\/p>\n<p>The Slovak Republic is currently represented on the Soil Health and Food Mission Board by  <strong>doc. The number of Horizon Europe projects has been reduced to 49 compared to the previous period of around 120. New partnerships will be established gradually and there remains room for initiating others. Partnerships should have a broader set of actors with greater reach, better visibility and increased transparency.
