SLORD, together with its partners, organizes a regular international training program focused on developing the skills of research support staff, titled “V4 Training for Research Project Managers.”
The training has been held since 2017, twice a year in Brussels, during the following periods:
- March-April (Spring Edition)
- October-November (Autumn Edition)
The program is organized as part of the V4 Research & Innovation in Brussels collaboration, which brings together the Brussels-based liaison offices for research and innovation of the Visegrad Group countries.
Who is the training for?
The training is intended for employees of public and private organizations involved in supporting research and innovation. It targets positions such as:
- Project managers,
- Research administrators,
- Project coordinators,
- Staff in project departments, technology transfer centers, and similar roles.
The training is not intended for individual researchers.
What is the goal of the training?
The training aims to help participants:
- Better understand EU research and innovation policies,
- Comprehend their impact on Horizon Europe projects,
- Build new contacts,
- Develop networking skills,
- Share examples of best practices in project management.
Program Details
The training typically lasts three days, is conducted in English, and includes:
- Presentations by speakers from European Commission organizations,
- Lectures by other field experts,
- Interactive activities.

Who covers the costs?
The training itself is free of charge. However, active participation on all training days is required.
Travel costs are covered by the participant’s sending organization.
How to apply?
The training has a capacity of 35 participants:
- 7 spots for each Visegrad country,
- 7 spots for participants from other European countries.
Applicants from Slovak organizations can apply based on a call published on our website. Applications are submitted through an online questionnaire, providing basic information about work experience and motivation.

Selection Process
What do we expect from you?
- Basic knowledge of EU framework programs for research and innovation,
- At least initial experience with their operation,
- Interest in developing your skills,
- A clear intention for your organization to actively participate in Horizon Europe, or prior experience in one of the framework programs (Horizon Europe, H2020, or FP7) with an ambition to enhance your success rate.
Conditions for applying
- The applicant must be employed by a public or private institution involved in research and innovation, based in Slovakia.
- The same individual can participate in the training only once per framework program period (EU Framework Program for Research and Innovation).
Evaluation
SLORD reserves the right to select participants. The selection will be based on the information and motivation provided in the application. Applications will be evaluated considering the target participant profile and our goal to provide this opportunity to a diverse group of individuals and institutions.
If the number of quality applications exceeds the number of available spots, only one applicant per organization will be selected. In such cases, we will also apply the rule of at least 50% representation from public sector organizations.
