About us

The Slovak Liaison Office for Research and Development in Brussels was established by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic and the Centre for Scientific and Technological Information of the Slovak Republic. It started its activity on 2. January 2014. The office focuses on monitoring European policies and instruments to support research and development, with an emphasis on the current EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation – Horizon Europe.

Objectives:

  • Improving communication with European R&D institutions
  • Improving communication with other Brussels-based institutions
  • Improving communication with the international research and innovation community
  • Improving information flows between the European institutions and the Slovak environment
  • Supporting and lobbying Slovak participation in European research and innovation policy-making
  • Making Slovak research and development visible at European level
  • Creating a base for Slovak research and innovation institutions in Brussels
  • Identification of potential partners and collaborations
  • Provision of professional consultations

Services:

The Liaison Office provides services in the following areas:

  • Providing targeted and up-to-date information on calls and funding opportunities for research and development from European sources, in particular from the Horizon Europe programme, to the Slovak research and innovation community
  • Monitoring and evaluating developments in EU research and development policy
  • Providing information on Slovak research and innovation
  • Providing expert advice on EU projects
  • Providing targeted information on opportunities to join international consortia
  • Advice on finding partners and joining European networks
  • Providing logistical support for meetings in Brussels
  • Recommending successful examples and best practices in the EU to inspire and motivate further practice
  • Participating in events, activities and negotiations in Brussels and providing information and advice
  • Arranging contacts and meetings in the European institutions and organisations based in Brussels
  • Promotion of Slovak research, its results and potential in Brussels
  • Organisation of information days, workshops, seminars and conferences to raise awareness of Slovak research and innovation in Brussels

The Liaison Office provides its services free of charge. Coordination of the activities of the office is ensured by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.
