Institute of Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is a key partner of AI4EOSC project

The Institute of Informatics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences  is one of the key partners of the European consortium project AI4EOSC (Artificial Intelligence for the European Open Science Cloud), which aims to research new approaches and technologies for artificial intelligence to be accessible to European scientific communities through the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The AI4EOSC project is funded by the European Commission under the Research Infrastructures grant scheme. The main objective of the project is to improve technologies based on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and deep learning, with an emphasis on new developments in these areas such as distributed learning, federated learning and split learning. The vision of the AI4EOSC project is to increase the service offering in the EU environment by extending the EOSC ecosystem to support the effective use of state-of-the-art AI techniques by the research community.

In the AI4EOSC project, the Institute of Informatics is focused on the research and development of innovative approaches for machine and deep learning and their application to the analysis of big data from various scientific disciplines. This project allows the Institute of Informatics to showcase its innovative approaches in the field of artificial intelligence and also provides a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange with major European scientific institutions.

As part of the project, the first version of the AI4EOSC platform was launched on 15 March 2024, which is a comprehensive set of tools for the development and deployment of machine learning and deep learning models within the EOSC. In this context, the Institute of Informatics organised the first workshop for AI4EOS platform users in November 2023, which was attended by more than 50 people. The aim of the event was to foster collaboration and sharing of experiences among the involved partners, users and developers of the AI4EOSC platform.

The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) is a pan-European initiative to promote open science and open innovation, representing a network of organisations and infrastructures from different countries and communities that support the open creation and dissemination of knowledge and scientific data.
