On 22 March 2022, the University of Žilina, one of the partners the PIONEER Alliance, has submitted a project of European Universities in the framework of the call ERASMUS-EDU-2022-EUR-UNIV.
The PIONEER Alliance brings together 5 universities – Gustav Eiffel University (FR), ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon (PT), TH Köln – University of Applied Sciences (DE), Laurea University of Applied Sciences (FI) and University of Žilina (SK). They provide education in the field of information technology, engineering, social sciences and humanities, connecting education with the challenges of Future cities. They started working together in 2020 and together the PIONEER project will take them to the next level through institutional transformation.
PIONEER has 2 main ambitions:
I. Creating a European open campus focused on future cities:
Building a European university based on the unique PIONEER co-creation model linking education, research, innovation and community services to address the main challenges of the cities of the future in the context of theEuropean agenda (Green Deal, 100 Carbon Neutral Cities, Regional Smart Specialisation Strategies, Digital Transformation, Open science).
II. To be a role model for value co-creation organisation for European universities:
Co-creating, experimenting and comparing best practices from Alliance members to provide guidance for other universities.
The PIONEER Alliance brings together partners providing different levels of education from undergraduate to doctoral education linked to the theme of inclusive, sustainable and resilient cities.
Together, PIONEER Alliance universities train more than 70,000 students with 8,000 faculty and staff across 20 campuses, 18 cities and 9 regions.
