L’Oréal Slovakia has officially commenced the registration phase for the 8th year of the L’Oréal – UNESCO For Women in Science program, in cooperation with partners such as the Slovak Academy of Sciences, The Slovak Organisation for Research and Development Activities (SOVVA), the Slovak Commission for UNESCO, and the platform „Žijem vedu„.
The program, renowned for its commitment to supporting and recognizing the contributions of female scientists, offers a substantial financial reward of 21,000 euros and will be split among three women scientists. This award not only serves research purposes but also facilitates personal development.
Interested applicants can submit their scientific works until February 29, 2024, through the dedicated website www.prezenyvovede.sk.
The primary objective of this initiative is to motivate and appreciate the work of female scientists based in Slovakia.
Selection criteria
- PhD degree
- Program open to women scientists from these scientific fields: Physical sciences, Formal sciences, Engineering Sciences and Technology and Life and Environmental sciences
- Female scientists ≤ 40 years old
- A scientific project running in Slovakia
- Slovak nationality or foreign nationality
A noteworthy enhancement for the current edition is the increased financial reward of €7,000 providing flexibility for the winners to utilize the funds not only for scientific research but also for personal and professional development.
Women scholars who meet the criteria will register on the platform and upload the required documents. The winners will then be selected either in the online evaluation only or at the jury meeting, where 12 selected finalists will present the projects orally (TBC) by the jurors, composed of scientific experts and led by prof. RNDr. Ľubica Lacinová, DrSc. Three female scientists will be chosen from them as winners. On top of the financial support, the winners have access to media coverage that will help them build their network and inspire young girls to choose a scientific career.
